Abstract

Background and objectives: Poor sleep and fatigue are common problem of pre-hospital emergency staff. One of complementary and non-pharmacological treatments that can be used as an intervention to reduce sleep disturbances and fatigue is progressive muscle relaxation. This study aimed to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation on sleep quality and fatigue in the emergency pre-hospital’ staff of Disaster and Emergency Medical Management Center affiliated to Golestan University of Medical Sciences. Methods and material: This interventional study with pre and post-test deign with two group was conducted in 2015 on Pre-hospital emergency service personnel. 208 of 220 Pre-hospital emergency staff, who filled the quessionaires; quality of sleep and fatigue entered in the study based on inclusion criteria.of 159 staff with poor sleep score (>5) and using a statistical formula for sampling 72 staff selected randomly and were divided into two intervention and control groups.
