Abstract

Following 5 years of remarkable growth, Talghani Cancer Center has entered its 6 year with a continued dedication to its founding principle of providing Golestan Province children with access to a world-class cancer center. Under the leadership of our clinical director, Dr. Mirbehbahani, the clinical service continues to grow. Patient accrual is increasing progressively. There were 55 cases accessioned for the 2006 calendar year. Aforementioned cases include: 28 patients afflicted with ALL, 6 patients afflicted with AML, 4 patients afflicted with non Hodgkin Lymphoma, 2 patients afflicted with testicular tumor, 1 patient afflicted with Sarcoma, 1 patient afflicted with pelvic mass, 1 patients afflicted with Ewing’s sarcoma, 1 patient afflicted with Rhabdomyosarcoma, 3 patients afflicted with neuroblastoma, 1 patient afflicted with hepatoblastoma, 5 patients afflicted with Hodgkin Lymphoma, 1 patient afflicted with Wilms’ Tumor and 1 patient afflicted with Ovarian tumor.What set Talghani Children’s Cancer Center apart are intangibles: care that reaches beyond the disease to address the needs of the whole child, support and compassion for each child and family and the comfort of a facility designed specifically for children. By active participation in clinical trials, Talghani Children’s Cancer Center is also providing the community with access to promising new cancer treatment. We know that patients prefer to be treated in their own community, and we are committed to providing them with local access to the best cancer management possible. The staff of Talghani Children’s Cancer Center is committed to a future free from the threat of childhood cancers.
